INFLUENCES?

I was mainly attracted by the bright colours and the beauty of pattern. This entry contains the collage I have developed.

Blood Cells 04

This art piece show a physical idea of how i can develop my own patterns relating to the blood cells

Fix 01

This is a try version of the layout to just see how it would transform from one to another.

(CLOSER VIEW)

Blood Cells 03

This Diagram let us to understand how the cells would generate throughout such processes however, this image has given me an additional idea to the layout of the patterns that would be done on canvas.

I am now considering to layout the patterns from blood stem cells as a start from an edge and finish towards the other edge of the canvas with the white blood cells which create a mood of fear, an idea of destruction or invasion of human body as more deadly cells are generated.

WHY THIS IDEA?

I would like to discuss idea becuase it is somthing that audience want to rhetorically question me 'WHY?'. It is one of the intention to interest audience toward the artwork and then to the artist.

I did not accidentally come up with this idea but it came from my experience, around my own world which is directly linked to one of the frames - SUBJECTIVE that my artwork would be analysised through. It is about my relative (friend) being diagnosed Leukaemia and passed away with it and I am depicting this personal, emotive qualities using the elements and principles to convey feelings, personal responses or imaginings to the audience.

Signs and symbols used in my artwork would include the white cells known as deadly cells which link to the issues of death and invasion of human body. The style and the concept of postmodernism is employed in my work for example, the Pop Arts element is used by posterising the colours, using similar techniques used by the famous pop artist Andy Warhol and David Hockney which all link to STRUCTURAL frame.

All the elements above are considered the conceptual framework - PEOPLE, ARTIST, WORKS, and the WORLD.

Blood Cells 02

These are the blood cells that are found from a person's blood vessel who is diagnosed Leukaemia

Monocyte, Lymphocyte, Neutrophil, Eosinophil and Basophil are the 5 main white blood cells and the rest, Erythrocyte and Platelets are common cells that are found inside the human blood vessel.

Macrophage is basically another form of Monocyte.

Blood Cells 01

This Diagram shows the flow of cells inside the blood vessel, containing both normal and white blood cells.

MY INTENTION?

My body of work intends to affect audience emotionally and critical as a result of embodying a deadly medical issue which is leukaemia. Leukaemia occurs when someone has too much white blood cells and his/her bone marrow is affected by that and failing to produce normal blood cells. This let people to die within long-term if not cured

My idea is to beautifully depict or paint the deadly 5 different white blood cells as patterns on canvas with posterised colours using paint pen/markers borrowing pop arts techniques mainly from Andy Warhol and David Hockney.

This would be perceived by audience ironically and critical because of the fact that people see white blood cells are deadly. The audience would interact with my artwork and admire the beautiful patterns with classic colours but when they come to realise that they are the deadly cells which can kill people with constant pains in long-term, the audience would be critically affected and amazed.
